:( i was already missing meg yesterday, and then just now on the way out of the subway station i found myself walking next to a girl that looked JUST like rose, even down to the strands of hair falling down on either side of her eyes. i actually thought it WAS her for a second, and was trying to figure out how she might happen to be not just in japan but at the subway station near my house, and then she looked at me and caught me staring at her, and i saw a tiny bit of slanty eyes and decided given the situation, it must not be her. but really the only reason i decided that was because she didn't acknowledge me in any way. i really wanted to get a picture of her, but there was no way to do it subtly (especially since she had already seen me staring at her), and i definitely don't trust my japanese enough to ask something like "excuse me random attractive girl, i know i'm all sweaty from walking up the steps from the subway and i was just staring at you, but could i take a picture of you? you look like someone i know, you see." especially in a country where it is necessary to put up signs preventing men unaccompanied by women from going into those machines that let you take your picture. so it wasn't her, but i got all excited in that brief irrational moment thinking she was actually here, and now i'm missing her badly, almost as if she actually HAD just been there and then got taken away from me. bah.
