Guilty Pleasures

Creative Nomad Jukebox ZenI came across this article, in which people guiltily confess the embarassing selections on their iPods. I laughed, because it's a subject I'm quite familiar with. I thought I would offer a list of some of the more questionable selections in my MP3 collection. Of course there's the usual oddities that noone whose computer has graced a university network can avoid, like Right Said Fred and the Oh Yeah song from Ferris Beuller. Everybody has those (...right?). But I imagine some of the other things in my collection are less ubiquitous:

  • Backstreet Boys - I Want It That Way
  • Brandy & Monica - The Boy Is Mine
  • Daddy Wizard Osby (my Jamaican P.E. teacher from high school who was also a reggae artist)
  • House Of Pain's first album
  • JD & Jay - Money Ain't A Thang
  • Kriss Kross - Jump
  • Marky Mark - Good Vibrations
  • Mortal Kombat Soundtrack
  • New Kids On The Block - Step By Step & Hangin' Tough (back before they sold out)
  • Pato Banton (Go Pato! Everybody tellin' me to.)
  • Petra (seven albums)
  • Point Of Grace (I'm not sure how that got there)
  • Richard Marx (the full Repeat Offender album, not just Right Here Waiting like all the poseurs)
  • Scatman
  • Sir Mix-A-Lot - Baby Got Back
  • Tears For Fears
  • The Fresh Prince - Boom, Shake The Room & Parents Just Don't Understand
  • Vanilla Ice - To The Extreme & Hard To Swallow (his "reformed" hard rock album released under the moniker, "v. ice")

But as the article says, you have no excuses anymore, because everything on there is purposefully hand-picked by you :) So I'll admit it. I like the Scatman song. It taught me that to stutter and to scat is the same thing! If the Scatman can do it, then so can I.

How about you, what have you got lurking in your collection, trying to scooch back between the Megadeth and the Metallica so that visitors won't notice it?
