Today after work I stopped by the panadería for breakfast. I wasn't sure if I should order a sandwich or just get oatmeal, because sandwiches take a while to make. But I figured I wasn't in any hurry, so why not. Seconds after I ordered the sandwich, a cameraman and a reporter for Telemundo walked in the door and told everyone to get pretty because she was going to interview everyone about some current events thing. Crap. I would have felt ridiculous cancelling the order just because of that, so I just hunched into the corner with my back to her and hoped she'd get the hint. After that it was just a matter of a race between the sandwich guy and the other interviewees.
I started to get excited as he started wrapping up my sandwich, but my heart sank as I heard her say, "And now let's get the opinion of the youth on the new governor's policies." It's a good thing I'm known for both my Spanish oratorical skills and my refined opinions of Puerto Rican politics. (Hint: not so much.)
I explained that I don't really have an opinion on the matter, because I don't keep up with politics. She asked, "Well for example, what do you think about the fact that prices for water service are going to rise?"
I answered, "I don't pay for water bills right now, so... I don't really know much about it. But obviously nobody wants prices to go up." Yes, I am intelligent. She seemed to get the picture and turned to the camera and gave her "...and there you have it..." closing speech. Meanwhile, I took advantage of the rare opportunity to check out the big expensive pro lens on her cameraman's camera. Of course, I realized later that I probably just looked transfixed with fear by the camera. It's a shame they most likely won't use the clip, because I imagine it'd be quite amusing/embarassing to watch.
