Attack Of The Marauding Eye Zit!

Posted on May 30, 2005 at 1:05 AM in 'Dear Diary' with tags 'dan, eye'

OK, maybe not so marauding, but I seem to have acquired a zit on the very edge of my eyelid. I didn't know you could do that. I'm quite proud of myself. And I couldn't deny you the joy of witnessing such a fine display pimplery. It's like this zit was playing chicken with his friends in a classic 50s movie, and he was the one who ended up in the classic scene with two wheels of the car hanging off of a cliff. Except in those movies, usually once the characters slip off of the car, it falls crashing into the crevasse. Or, in this case, MY EYE.

Anyway, here's the picture. Warning, it is an extreme closeup of my eye (come on, like you're not gonna look).

It's a STY!

I had a friend in elementary school that used to get really bad sties. They were disgusting. Yours doesn't looks quite so huge and disgusting yet, be thankful. They lasted for weeks, ugh.

Ahh, I like that. It sounds better than Eye Zit. Sty it is. But if it gets huge and disgusting, then I think it will re-earn the title of Eye Zit.

That is a sty. I used to get them when I was a kid. They suck.

Confirming it's a sty. Try holding a warm washcloth to your eye two or three times a day, for ten minutes at a time, to bring it to a head and help it burst (gross, I know). You can also wash your eye with Johnson's baby shampoo--in the shower, put a drop about the size of your pinky fingernail on a washcloth, and rub it on your eyes (while closed) to help keep them clean. Good luck!

I assume you are logging referrers? I refuse to accept that it's coincidence that you happened to visit my site an hour after I was checking out yours :)

Thanks for the advice. Thankfully, the sty (stye?) has mostly gone away, leaving behind only some occasional residual itching. Good to know for next time, though.
