When I went to Charleston a few weeks ago to visit Jessie, I met a friend of hers who offered to send me a copy of his band's CD. I said sure and, true to my heritage, promptly forgot all about it.
I was quite surprised, then, to receive a semi-anonymous packag in the mail yesterday. I had no idea who Falcotronik was, but the package felt heavy, so I figured it had to be something fun. And in fact, when I opened it, I discovered not just the CD, but also a bunch of other fun stuff like stickers and what appear to be some zines I'm guessing he puts out (including one called 'Fag Mag', nice :).
The coolest part, though, was the typewritten letter he wrote me. A typewriter adds a cool atmosphere that even handwriting doesn't provide. Man, first I develop an affection for view cameras and now typewriters... I fear I may have been bitten by the retro bug. Although I think it's more an appreciation for antiquity. But maybe that's just semantics.
Anyway, it was awesome to get all this stuff in the mail unexpectedly. The package claimed that a 7" will be on the way eventually as well. And all this for free — very cool. And it's nice to see that at least he spelled my name right on the letter, if not on the package itself :)
