Nostalgia Via Video

I was going through all my old camcorder tapes today, trying to locate the video of my brother and I almost getting hit by a plane at St. Barths. I didn't find it, but I did encounter a bunch of fun videos I had forgotten. In lieu of the propeller death video, I figured I'd put these up instead. Odds are they won't be amusing to people who weren't actually there at the time, but I figure that's probably most of you anyway.

My Xvid encoder was being obstinate, and would sometimes refuse to encode a video with anything other than the absolute lowest audio quality setting. Ah well, they're not too bad, and it's only one or two of them.

Tiny Little Nerd Dan (1.3 MB Xvid video)
You should be unsurprised to discover that I represent a long tradition of nerdlihood, dating back to long before the dawn of my discovery of girls. Here we see a 13-year-old Dan sharing with the video camera tales of a video game he's been into lately. Sadly, his promise to show the game itself apparently went unfulfilled; there was nothing else on the tape.
Separate Ways (18 MB Xvid video)
At the 10th grade International Dinner, some classmates and I covered Journey's Separate Ways. Quite badly. Really, our lack of rhythm is astounding. Rather than force the entire 5-minute song on you (which turns out to be quite boring with no lyrics), I've compiled the highlights here.
Supra Dyno (4.5 MB Xvid video)
OK, this is more for my sake than anyone else's. One of the Supra's dyno runs, where it made 392 horsepower at the wheels. Such a pretty car. Despite its problems, I regret selling it.
Halloween at the Compound (8.3 MB Xvid video)
Metal is afoot at The Compound.

I miss my swords and fast cars.

Haha! "Hey, this is like, you know, Daniel..." Excellent intro. If you ever write a book, that could be your "Call me Ishmael".

Wow, great video! Bill was rocking in the background! Is that Victor Gobel in the back on the speaker?

Hehe, I think Bill was trying desperately to transmit the beat to us through sheer force of will. He failed. :) And yup, that's Victor.

Hahaha, "You're watching over the battle... I can't even believe I'm hanging out with these guys...". Priceless :)

Opps, sorry, I mis-quoted. It should have been, "I can't even believe I'm dating one of these people." Haha - even better :)

Haha, yes. I consider it a personal victory each time I make someone question the merits of our friendship :)

My neck hurts after watching the last video...
