Today I went to a Renaissance Festival for the first time, and it was just as awesome as I'd hoped. They were holding it in Hammond, just about half an hour from here, so Bryan and Cat and I headed out there this morning. From the moment we arrived at the entrance I was already giggling with glee.

There were blacksmiths and demons and even a centaur! His tail swished, which was kind of creepy.

There were singing pirates and axe-throwing competitions, but the best part was the weapons merchants. I sold almost all of my weapons when I moved out of the Compound, and I've regretted that decision ever since. I was excited about my chance to start acquiring new ones. I wanted to pick up another broadsword, but the swords for sale here were way out of my price range. Instead, I bought a dagger to ward off attackers at close range. I am also now in the company of a spider named Sebastian:

And I think he's awesome as hell. He's a pretty good size. I might eventually mount him on my car as a hood ornament. For now, though, he'll protect me while I sleep.
