And then we have a wine-tasting |
There was a lot of wine-drinking, though most of it was classier than this |

Entries with tag "wine"Andrea's last night in PRTonight I met up with Andrea and some friends of hers at Starbucks. Andrea is flying to Spain tomorrow for a semester abroad, so I wanted to spend some more time with her before she left. We had a good time. She seems to be one of those rare people with whom I always seem to have things to talk about, so we don't need to have something to do — just sitting around and conversing is always pleasant. I'm experiencing the same thing that happened with Guinness; I find myself occasionally feeling a vague desire for a glass of wine, while at the same time remembering how terrible it tastes. I think that, just as with Guinness, what I'm actually drawn to is the environment that I associate with the drink — the theatrics of carefully pouring a pint of Guinness and enjoying the creamy head, or the relaxing experience of enjoying a glass of wine and good cheese in a pool with friends. Still, for whatever reason, I find myself slowly (and painfully) acquiring a taste for these things that taste so terrible at first. Discovering Ubuntu LinuxThere's a big debate about Windows vs. Linux, but I think most people versed in the issue acknowledge that Linux has obvious advantages over Windows — most notably security and stability (My Linux server at home had been up for about 180 days until the UPS failed during a power outage last week. We've got Linux machines at work with uptimes of 885 days). I don't think that most people who choose Windows do so because they actually believe Windows is superior to Linux in aspects like those — it's just that Linux's downsides (difficult to configure, more geeky knowledge needed, incompatibility with a lot of hardware due to no manufacturer support, etc.) are enough to outweigh its benefits.
