2005-02-06: Wild Ravens Extreme Air Show

Turbines are so LOUD. And FAST. And sound so COOL.	The stuff they did really was incredible and beautiful. Airplanes are so much more graceful than helicopters. It's too bad film can't convey it.	Then he crashed. (Aren't you not supposed to let the flag touch the ground? I'm a jerk.)	This guy's flight routine was very patriotic. They played "Proud to be an American" and someone ran around waving a flag.
"Roads? Where we're going, we don't need... roads."	Time for a "landing"	And off he went and did a bunch of aerobatics. I was too busy watching to take pictures.	Away!
Most planes showed off by taking off across the runway rather than down it. This guy one-upped them	They did lots of incredible things other than hovering, but this is the only thing that can really be captured in a still image	Back on the ground where you belong	It's amazing the things that can be convinced to fly
Trimming the hedges	I seen a horse fly, I seen a dragon fly, I even seen a house fly. But I ain't ever seen a lawnmower fly. (1c)	A low pass with smoke	Heading out for the pattern flight
I should know the names of these older planes, shouldn't I? Pitts? Stearman? It's one of those.	With a skilled pilot and an overpowered plane, hovering is possible

2004-10-21: Raptor 50

Ready and eager to go	I think it would have been worth it to invest in that pair of ball link pliers.	Beautiful, useful piece of technology	It's just a little naked now, is all
Blades extended	Blades stowed for storage	Now THAT'S a helicopter.	Completed rotor head assembly
It's safe to stop squinting now.	Whoever invented the helicopter probably went through the same self-doubt as the guy that invented the automatic transmision. "That's so complicated I've already forgotten how it's supposed to work."	The main shaft makes it look a little closer. But not really.	Progress continues. Still doesn't really look like a helicopter.
The monster radio. I think with this I can probably control God. (1c)	That sort of looks like a helicopter, if you squint. And while you're squinting you look at a picture of a helicopter.	Hmm, it might take a while to make this resemble a helicopter	The newest addition to the RC stable - TT Raptor 50 V2
